Gardening. Not something that I've ever done before, until this year. It's not that I didn't know how. I did. I watched my mom and dad plant and tend their gardens when I was growing up. It's just that I've always killed anything plant related, so I didn't think I could do it. This year, I decided it was time. I love the freshness of the vegetables and am so tired going to Farmer's Markets to buy them. So, I started small. Zucchini, radishes, tomatoes, cucumbers and peppers. So far so good! Got my first zucchini last week and my first nice big tomato yesterday! Go me!
Because I've never done any gardening, I've never read into it, until now. I never heard of Heirloom seeds, even if I did, I wouldn't know what they were anyway. The Heirloom Life Gardener, by Jere and Emilee Gettle & Meghan Sutherland was offered to me to review (and GIVEAWAY!) a few months back, so I thought what the heck, why not.

I opened the book and right away feel in love with the crispness of it. The photos are wonderfully placed and give you the conception of being right in them. Once I started reading, I had no problem with the flow of the reads. It kept my attention and was simple to read and understand. Right from the beginning you are told what an Heirloom Seed is and from there, you have yourself a gardening manual. Tips by his wife Emilee are added throughout the book.
All-in-all the book is a perfect for your gardening collection! I learned more than I ever need to know, but I enjoyed doing it. I do believe next year I'll be ordering some of these seeds. You're sure to use it as a reference guide for many many years!
The Gettle's also have their own business called Baker Creek Heirloom Seed Company. You can check them out online
